Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend Travel insurance. It is a great inexpensive way to be reimbursed if there are any unexpected issues with your plans. You will also be covered for a variety of things including health or other emergencies.
By plane:
Vienna International Airport, VIE, (Flughafen Wien-Schwechat)
We are a scenic 1.5 hour (132 km) journey by car from Vienna airport, so arriving to Podhradi nad Dyji in the early afternoon and departing in the morning is what we find to be the most comfortable.
Other airport possibilities include:
-Brno Airport, BRQ (109 km)
-Prague Airport, PRG (219 km)
It is important to note that flights from the USA often arrive the following day. This means flights leaving the USA on the 1st arrive in Vienna on the 2nd. Factor this in with any reservation.
How to get there from the airport:
Rent a car:
(Strongly recommended for added autonomy)
Car rental at Vienna, Brno or Prague Airport is very easy
and strongly recommended.
Most car rental vendors are represented at the airport.
Make sure that you adjust the GPS, or your phone before
you are on the way.
Plug in ‘Podhradi nad Dyji’ and follow the directions.
We are the big n48 house down the hill. You can’t miss us.
Reserve a pickup:
(We don’t recommend this option, as the house is not very well connected by public transport, so you’ll be depending on us and unable to visit around)
We can also send a car to pick you up from the airport.

You can also take the train to Znojmo (34,8 km) or Retz (36,8 km) with OBB Austrian rail services, and then take
a taxi or bus, or we can arrange a pickup for you.
By Car:
If you have your own car and consider you live close enough, you can drive to the house, and park there.
